Our family owned company, grew based on a philosophy, which gives special relevance to conservation and protection of our natural resources. From there we began 25 years ago converting almost 120 hectares (300 acres), formerly dedicated to cattle farms, into tropical forest, supporting the country national effort in conservation. There are in our planet several ways of producing Carbon Dioxide (CO2), which increases global warming; planes, ships, automobiles, motorcycles and several other machineries produce CO2, due to the use of fossil fuels. The same is true for air conditioning and heating systems, electric generation using mineral carbon as fuel..., and the list goes on. Even though our modern life requires the use of all these technologies, we too have a responsibility with the planet we live in. Therefore the importance to mitigate our CO2 footprint, and what a better way to achieve it, that by natural means...¡trees!

Hola Rent a Car acts in the same way it thinks, thus we assure you we mitigate each pound of CO2 you produce while driving our fleet, due to the sequestration of approximately 4,000 tons of CO2 each year, with our 100,000 trees in our proprietary forestry projects.

We did not do this because it was trendy, or because it was a sound business decision. We did it because we thought it was the right thing to do. As per today, with all global unrest regarding global warming, we feel proud of doing the right thing, investing time and vision. Money came from personal savings and from our family based company: Hola Rent a Car.

Since our birth as a Car Rental, 15 years ago, our company adhere itself with enthusiasm to invest in development and conservation of our natural resources of almost 120 hectares (300 acres) of tropical forest in Costa Rica.

It is an important investment in generation and protection of the Costa Rica tropical forests, located in real estate properties within Costa Rican Central Pacific Region and in the Tilaran Cordillera.

Our forestry projects, more than only sequestrating CO2, and therefore affecting positively the global warming issue, supports and protects the process of regenerating local biodiversity, housing ecosystems of hundreds of species, including birds, mammals, reptiles and insects, as well as giving protection to hundreds of natives plants.

Carbon compensation or carbon Offsets is one way that companies use to pay for their carbon footprint, but we believe that one should go a step further and mitigate directly ones CO2 footprint.
